Technical LibraryMOVING XI: Packing the Ruckers Double with Table Stand Entire Contents Copyright © 2010 CBH |
Packing the original flightcase… The flightcase is laid down flat to pack and unpack. The Table Stand in its cover is placed flat on the bottom, with its spine and front edges tight against the flightcase. This allows a little clearance at the point of the tail, and plenty of clearance at the cheek. The harpsichord is then laid on top of the stand, flush against the foam blocks at the front and spine. Note that this allows the harpsichord to actually sit inside the stand itself to reduce overall height.
The four numbered foam blocks must now be used to chock the instrument firmly in place and prevent it from moving when the flightcase is in transit:
Place the stool in the vacant space, with its padded seat towards the harpsichord itself. Use one of the humidity-control pillows between the stool and the bentside.
The long bag containing the music desk, lid stick & goodie bag fits in the middle space. Use the remaining pillow between the bag and the bentside. Please check all items are included:
The eggcrate foam overlay goes on top of the stool. There are several small white cloth bags of silica gel which can be anywhere in the case. When closing the lid, watch that the lid chain does not get caught. Ensure that the lid is aligned correctly to bring the butterfly catches together. Rotate the butterfly catches fully to lock the lid down. The flightcase can then be flipped onto its spine side, allowing it to be wheeled on a trolley, or moved by forklift. Safe travels! |
